Prequalification Of Public Works Vendors

NEW - Legislative Amendment R.I. Gen. Laws § 16-7-41.1(e)

Vendors please note that pursuant to recent amendments to R.I. Gen. Laws § 16-7-41.1(e), commencing after July 1, 2026, and for subsequent fiscal years, no state funding shall be provided for projects in excess of ten million dollars ($10,000,000) unless the prime contractor for the project has received prequalification from the Division of Purchases.

Notice to Vendors: Please take note that Division of Purchases Regulations require that all vendors who wish to bid on non-Department of Transportation (DOT) public works projects with an estimated value of $1,000,000 or higher must be prequalified by the Division of Purchases prior to bid. Note that prequalification is general and not associated with any particular bid. A full copy of the regulation text can be found at: https://rules.sos.ri.gov/regulations/part/220-30-00-4

Prequalification Application Review Timeline: There is no guarantee that a prequalification packet will be processed within any specific time period, however, the Division will endeavor to process all packets and/or change requests as promptly as possible.
